Cadmium Found in select Walmart Jewlery

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

Wal-mart has been in the news quite a bit today, first with the announcement that 10 Sam’s Clubs would be closing and now regarding the potentially toxic nature of the jewelry being sold there.  Government warnings have been issued regarding the potentially toxic content of imported Chinese goods. An Associated Press report found children’s jewelry from China being sold at Wal-Mart to contain, high levels of the poisonous element, cadmium.

Chinese manufacturers have begun using it as a replacement for led in some products.

The AP reports concerned Wal-Mart who has plans to pull potentially hazardous jewelry and products off the shelves.
