Iran Blames U.S., Israel for Bomb Attack that Killed Scientists

Iran has blamed the United States and Israel for a bomb attack that killed a noted physicist in Tehran, saying there were a number of signs that pointed to the two countries involvement.

While Iran quickly called the bombing an act of terrorism and an effort by Western powers to halt the country’s nuclear program the scientist, Masoud Ali Mohammadi, has been described as a physicist who more than likely wasn’t even involved in nuclear research.

Despite the Iranian government’s efforts to pin the attack on the U.S. and Israel the reformist movement in Iran has pointed at officials, saying Mohammadi’s death could be attributed to his support of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Mohammadi was killed when a bomb attached to his motorcycle detonated. The blast shattered windows in nearby buildings. There have been no claims of responsibility for the attack.
