15 FHA Lenders Under Government Investigation

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

15 mortgage companies are under investigation by Federal housing officials for their curiously elevated default rates for loans supported by the Federal Housing Administration.

Subpoenas requesting documentation and information regarding failed loans have been served to corporate offices of the companies by the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office.

Kenneth Donohue, inspector general of the office, is suspicious that the default rates may be the result of fraud.
