Jason Richardson scored 30 points and grabbed 8 rebounds while Baron Davis added 24 points and 5 assists as the Golden State Warriors pounded the Dallas Mavericks 109-91 to take a surprising 2-1 series lead in their Western Conference playoff match-up.
Golden State had all five starters score in double figures and held the Mavericks to just 38 percent shooting from the field.
Richardson scored ten points in the opening quarter to give the Warriors a 29-20 lead after one. They would lead by as many as 18 in the second quarter before settling for a61-48 advantage at the break.
Dallas never challenged the more aggressive Warriors in the second half as they found themselves down by as many as 22 in the third quarter. The Mavericks were never closer than 17 in the fourth quarter as Golden State continued to score almost at will against the Western Conference’s number one seed.
Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard each scored 20 points for the Mavericks.
Both teams will meet again on Sunday in Oakland for game four of their best of seven series.
