Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson was named the 2009 NFL Offensive Player of the Year on Wednesday after becoming just the sixth player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season.
Johnson collected 38 ½ votes, easily outdistancing New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees who totaled nine votes from a panel of 50 sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NFL.
Johnson rushed for 2006 yards while adding another 503 receiving yards, becoming the first NFL player to ever reach the 2000/500 mark. The second year pro also added 16 touchdowns and had six consecutive games in which he rushed for more than 125 yards.
