The American Gaming Association announced Wednesday that it has elected Boyd Gaming Corp. (NYSE: BYD) CEO Keith Smith as its next chairman, according to Associated Press.
The association, which is the industry group for commercial casinos, said Smith will replace T.J. Matthews, the former chairman of International Game Technology.

Smith first joined the association's board in 2007 and served as its vice chairman last year.
The association said Smith's election came at the group's annual meeting in December.
