NBA Scores: Bulls Blast Heat to Complete Sweep

Ben Gordon scored 24 points, Luol Deng added 22 and 12 rebounds and Ben Wallace finished with 13 points and 11 boards as the Chicago Bulls beat the Miami Heat 92-79 to complete a first round sweep in their Eastern Conference playoff series.

Miami carried a 48-44 lead into the third quarter and bumped their advantage to eight with 5:41 remaining in the period but Chicago went on a 13-2 run to go in front 65-62. After Dwyane Wade cut the Heat’s deficit to one the Bulls’ Chris Duhon hit a three-pointer to end the quarter at 68-64.

James Posey was able to get the Heat to within one after hitting a pair of free-throws with 5:26 on the clock but the Bulls closed the game out on a 14-2 run to end the defending NBA champion’s season.

Wade led the Heat with 24 points but shot just 8-22 from the floor. Miami struggled from the free-throw line as well, hitting 13-27 with Shaquille O’Neal a dismal 0-7.

Chicago will now face the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
