Jason Kidd scored 17 points, handed out 13 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds while Vince Carter added 27 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds as the New Jersey Nets pounded the Toronto Raptors 102-81 to take a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference playoff series.
Carter scored 15 points in the first quarter and the Nets it five three-pointers in the opening frame to quickly bury the Raptors. By the end of the first period the Nets had a 17 point lead and the Raptors were in shock.
Things didn’t get much better for the Raptors in the second quarter as New jersey hit another five three-pointers to bump their lead to 19 at the break.
It only took two and a half minutes into the third period for the Nets to extend their lead to 29 and at the end of the quarter New Jersey was up 86-56 and already looking to ease back their attack.
New Jersey hit 47 percent from the floor and sank 14-27 from beyond the three-point line.
The series heads back to Toronto where both teams will meet on Tuesday for game five of their best of seven series.
