Martin Luther King Jr. achieved many accomplishments in his life before it was tragically cut short on the evening of April 4, 1968. During his life King received 5 honorary degrees and was named the Man of the year in a 1963 issue of Time Magazine. He was also the youngest person to receive the noble peace prize in 1964.
Martin Luther King Day is held every year on the third Monday of January to help remember all of his contributions. He fought for equal rights and inspired many other African Americans to step up and do the same.
