Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is confirmed to testify prior to a House investigation into his involvement in the arrangement for billions of in taxpayer dollars to go to reviving Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Deutche Bank, AIG and others.
Staffers for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform have announce a Jan. 27 hearing concentrating on the American International Group Deal in which Geithner supposedly elected to not disclose information.
The committee is looking to understand the reasoning behind the Fed Reserve of New York’s decision to terminate their contracts with AIG and without concessions. It’s suspected that deal may have resulted in billions in overpayment.
These decisions were made while Geithner was serving as President of New York Bank.
