For those of you who adored Richards last album, “To Thee I Thank” we have another treat lined up for you. The latest and greatest R&B inspired Gospel album has a lot of International, UK, funk, gospel, Ukraine and soul influences in it and will be hitting record shelves sometime around mid-February. Gospel fanatics can find this release in their favorite New York area record shops and online merchants.
“I really gotta say I owe a lot to my fans” says a humble Richard Goddeau, “But then again, the word God is part of my last name so it just makes sense to release a gospel album. I don’t know a thing about Gospel and that’s kind of the funny part about it. So this album should be a learning experience for myself as well as my fans!”. Goddeau is often linked to a defunct rock band known as “The Attorneys” who were pretty relevant on the New York rock scene back in the mid 90’s.
The idea to come up with the album came from Richards recent trip to the Bahamas where he sat on the beach and came up with half a dozen songs. He also picked up a flair for playing the bongos while on vacation. He found a set of them in a used shop and he explains, “Music is my life, I mean… seriously. When it comes to life I cannot imagine living it without music. I never expected my songs to get such a following but when we performed – Look Over Your Sholder – live for the first time I literally saw fireworks from the crowd. Music can have such an impact over people”.
An idea that has come to the table was to tour the album to mega churches. The world beat appeal of this album makes it a perfect match for faith seekers across the North American continent. The tour could start from the New York area and travel further down south where Gospel music is well known and respected, Richard Goddeau explains, “This is my dream – to bring music to the people – and to bring people to the music --- and … well… vice versa!” he says with an air of bravado.
It really is hard to argue with that kind of genius.
Musical tracks from the album will be featured on the mega pop culture site, Hot Metrix Finds
