Corruption Trial Involving Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi Suspended

The corruption trial involving Italian Prime Minister Sivio Berlusconi has been suspended until the end of February after judges determined the case shouldn’t go forward until an appeal filed by his former tax lawyer, David Mills, is concluded.

Mills was convicted and sentenced to four-and-a-half years last February for accepting a bribe to lie in two court cases, he has since filed an appeal and the corruption trial involving Berlusconi won’t begin until a decision is handed down in that matter. Berlusconi has been accused of paying bribes to Mills in exchange for his silence on the matter of offshore companies.

Berlusconi has denied the charges leveled against him but did not appear in court on Friday. He is expected to attend sessions next month.
