U.S. Government Plans to Chide China for Google Hackings

Financial World News Update by Equities Magazine

The United States has joined Google’s opposition toward the Chinese government following the hacking attempts at 20 plus public companies and the g-mail accounts of Chinese human rights activists.

A formal demarche to the Chinese government in Beijing will be issued as soon as next week according to an official from the State Department.

Until now, the U.S. government has shied away from vocalizing their disapproval of human rights policies practiced by China as they have needed the support of the nation on issues surrounding the financial crisis and their stake in U.S. debt.

Google responded to the incident of corporate infrastructure hacking immediately, threatening to withdraw from the billion-plus market unless they agreed to discontinue their policy of filtering internet searches.

The Chinese government declined the offer and made no moves to change their current circumstances, inviting Google to continue their operations while abiding by present law.

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has already spoken out on the issue, asking for an explanation from China that has yet to be delivered upon. In a plan speech next week, Clinton is expected to discuss Internet freedom, and reference the attacks.

It has yet to be established whether the Chinese government were in fact behind the attacks,. Still, all responses thus far, including making a public policy issue of the situation, appear to indicate some degree of assurance for their being accountable.

Google has opened the flood gates for the U.S. government in terms in regards to China’s often disagreeable, by American ideals, operations.
