NFL News: Chicago Bears DE Gaines Adams Dies at 26

Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams was rushed to a Greenwood, South Carolina emergency room early Sunday morning but was pronounced dead at 9:00 a.m. ET. Adams was 26.

There have been no reports on what led to Adams being rushed to the Self Regional Hospital but an autopsy is being conducted today to determine the cause of death. Adams had been back in South Carolina visiting family and friends; he played college football at Clemson.

Adams, listed at 6-foot-5, 256 pounds was the #4 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was moved to the Bears in October.
