Former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury has signed deal with a team in the Chinese Basketball Association and will join his new team sometime next week.
Marbury, 32, inked a deal with the Shanxi club and while the dollar figure was not released it is not believed to be too high. Instead, Marbury has his eyes set on promoting his own personal line of shoes in China.
Marbury played in 23 games for the Boston Celtics last year and before that spent four and a half contentious years with the New York Knicks. Marbury started his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being moved to the New Jersey Nets and then the Phoenix Suns. From Phoenix he was dealt to NY.
Over his 13-year career Marbury made two NBA All Star squads and was named to the All-Rookie team in 1997.
