Angelina Jolie Describes Scene in A Mighty Heart as “the hardest thing I’ve ever done”

Oscar Award winner Angelina Jolie has called a scene in the upcoming film A Mighty Heart “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

In the film Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the widow of Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal newspaper reporter who was abducted and murdered in 2002 in Kirachi, Pakistan while researching the possible ties between the shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and Islamic fringe groups.

Mariane, who was five months pregnant at the time of Daniel’s murder penned A Mighty Heart and published it as a memoir in 2003. As part of the book, she details the moment at which she found out Daniel had been murdered. It was that scene in the movie that Jolie described as “the worst acting day of my life” and continued by calling it “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

Plan B Entertainment, a production company founded by Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Grey, collaborated on the picture.

The movie is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival May 21.
