Florida Man Wins Rocky Patel Cigars "Big Game Giveaway" Contest
Famous Smoke Shop promotion will send winner to NFL Championship Game in Miami
Just as the NFL's 2009 season was getting underway last year, Famous Smoke Shop and Rocky Patel Cigars rolled out their nationwide "Big Game Giveaway" promotion. The contest offered an all-expenses-paid trip and a pair of tickets to the NFL championship game in Miami, which takes place on February 7. The concept was simple: Contestants' names were entered into the drawing by purchasing select boxes of Rocky Patel cigars from Famous Smoke Shop's website, call center, retail store, and CigarMonster.com The contest ran through December 31, 2009.
Then, on Saturday, January 9, 2010, as the NFL playoff season commenced, Famous Smoke Shop announced the "Big Game Giveaway" winner during a special event at their Easton, PA cigar store. The honor went to Mr. Ronald Tucker of Wesley Chapel, Florida who was notified via phone by Rocky Patel Cigars VP, Nimish Desai.
I sent Mr. Tucker a congratulatory email and asked him to tell us a little about himself. After all, it's not everyday a die-hard football fan gets to see The Vince Lombardi Trophy awarded in-person.
Born in Monongahela, PA, Mr. Tucker (68) is a retired Florida State Law Enforcement officer who now works as a manager at The Alley at Southshore bowling center in Riverview, Florida. He has been married to his wife Peggy for 44 years and has two sons, Ronald II, and Chris who is also in law enforcement as a Manatee County Deputy.
Ron Sr., who is both a devoted Tampa Bay Bucs fan and a Pittsburg Steelers fan, has been smoking cigars since 1964. He has smoked numerous Tampa hand-rolled cigars as well as real Havanas. "I have tried a lot of cigars in my time and still think that Rocky Patel cigars are the absolute best," said Mr. Tucker.
"I love buying cigars from Famous and truly appreciate the variety, write-ups and the prices," he added. "I'd like to thank the folks at Rocky Patel Cigars for making what I consider the best cigars, including some of the Famous house brands they make. To be able to attend the [NFL Championship Bowl game] is truly a once in a lifetime event to experience."
Ron's favorite Rocky Patel cigar is the Rocky Patel Edge followed by the Rocky Patel Rosado, and too many others to mention.
"What's unbelievable about winning is, thirty minutes before getting the call I was out on the porch at the bowling center smoking a cigar with a friend and we were both discussing our favorite cigars," said Mr Tucker. "Both of us agreed on Rocky Patel!"
Suffice it to say, the prize couldn't have gone to a more deserving cigar-smoking football fan.
