Serena Williams got her 2010 Australian Open off to a strong start as she began her hunt for a fifth Grand Slam title Down Under with a straight set 6-2, 6-1 victory over Urszula Radwanska to advance to the second round.
Williams won 86% of her first serves put in play while neutralizing Radwanska’s first serve, limiting the Pole to winners on just 37% of her first offerings put in play. Serena finished the match with 26 winners, twice as many as Radwanska.
Williams has achieved a career Grand Slam with four titles at the Australian Open (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009), three titles at the U.S. Open (1999, 2002, 2008), three at Wimbledon (2002, 2003, 2009) and a French Open title (2002).
