Australian Open 2010 Round 1 Results: Ana Ivanovic Looks Sharp in Straight Set Win Over Shenay Perry

Ana Ivanovic opened her 2010 Australian Open with an impressive straight set win over Shenay Perry 6-2, 6-3 as the Serb looks to regain the form that had earned her the world’s number one ranking in 2008.

Ivanovic won 81% of her first serves put in play and shook off her five double faults by breaking Perry’s serve on five of 11 opportunities. Ivanovic made Perry pay on second serve offerings as the American managed to win just 32% of those points.

Ivanovic won her first Grand Slam singles title in 2008 when she beat Dinara Safina at the French Open. She reached the finals at Roland Garros in 2007 but fell to Justine Henin and she has managed to reach the finals at the Australian Open in 2008 but lost to Maria Sharapova.
