Buy One Night at a Bed and Breakfast, Get One Night Free ... with Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns Guidebook!

Imagine being part of a ‘Buy-One, Get-One-Free’ program that actually delivers what it promises! Well, when it comes to the best bed and breakfasts and country inns in North America, the Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns guide book keeps this promise.

Sold for $21.95 through www.iloveinns.com, the 18th edition of the Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns book comes with information about more than 1,560 North American B&Bs and country inns, and a Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free certificate good at any one of the participating inns. Worth up to $650 in potential annual savings, B&B inn enthusiast David Dryer of Kansas, Mo. has used the Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free certificate 135 times since 1991. Assuming that an average B&B stay cost $100 from 1991 to 2007; Dryer has enjoyed $13,500 times in free nights!

Much as he likes the savings, the real reason David Dryer enjoys the Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free program is because he loves bed & breakfasts and country inns. “The certificates have allowed my wife and I to sample inns all over the country and tour beautiful areas, meet wonderful people, and taste some of the best breakfasts!” Dryer says. To date, he has stayed at 114 inns across North America, and is looking to visit more.

It’s not just about the value: America’s bed & breakfasts and country inns are among the most unique and hospitable places you can stay. Below are a few American Historic Inns staff favourites where you can stay and save using the Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free certificate:

The palatial, recently restored 10 Fitch Inn in historic Auburn, New York, offers visitors an escape into 1900s’ gracious living with the choice of three luxurious suites. For example, the English Suite features a wood-burning fireplace, window seat, and private deck overlooking the inn’s gardens. Its oversized bathroom has a large claw foot soaking tub and a European rain shower. Add a separate sitting area with a plasma television and 10 Fitch is truly a respite from hectic daily life!

Philadelphia’s timeless “Rittenhouse 1715, A Boutique Hotel”, is just steps away from the City of Brotherly Love’s historic Rittenhouse Square. Winner of awards from Fodor’s, New York Magazine, and Country Living, Rittenhouse 1715 features 16 tastefully-decorated rooms, including a two-story Presidential Suite with spiral staircase that has to be seen to be believed! A tranquil, elegant retreat from the madness of city life, it is close to everything that makes city life special.

The Carson House Inn & Grill resides in Pittsburg, Texas, in the state’s northeast pine and hardwood forests. Built in 1878 by Pierce Ligon and purchased by lumberman William Henry Carson in 1887, the Carson House is a fascinating slice of 19th-century Texas life. Of particular note is its wood-finished interior. Milled by Carson from curly pine trees, a diseased tree with a very unique grain pattern which is now in very short supply, the Carson House’s woodwork is a wonder to behold. The Carson House has more than one mile of Curly Pine. Add an all day restaurant, period-decorated rooms, and even a two-room suite in a former railroad car, and the Carson House makes for a compelling bed and breakfast getaway visit.

If you have ever wanted to visit Tara in “Gone with the Wind”, then Monmouth Plantation in Natchez MS is a place you must stay at! A true Southern mansion built in 1818, Monmouth Plantation was the home of General John A. Quitman, a Secessionist sympathizer who – although he died before the Civil War – was sufficiently notorious that Union troops nearly destroyed the house in revenge. Today, Monmouth Plantation has been restored to its Antebellum glory, and offers period furnishings in its rooms and suites; some of them belonging to the original mansion. Add 26 acres of beautifully-kept grounds and the best in traditional Southern hospitality, and Monmouth Plantation is a treasure not to be missed.

Oregon’s Columbia Gorge Hotel is one of those grand hotels that you only see in classic movies... except that you too can stay here! Built in 1904 overlooking the Columbia River and a 208' waterfall, the Columbia Gorge Hotel was the last word in elegance for weary riverboat travellers. It was also very, very fashionable, which is why Presidents Roosevelt and Coolidge, plus actors Myrna Loy, Jane Powell, and (rumor has it) Rudolph Valentino stayed here. In 1981, the Columbia Gorge Hotel was lovingly restored to its original magnificence. Today, it offers beautifully-decorated rooms; many with fireplaces and canopy beds!

The Saratoga – an exceptional Four Sisters Inn – offers true seaside living on Whidbey Island, in Washington’s Puget Sound (near Langley). Featuring warm fireplaces and views of the Saratoga Passage and Cascade Mountains, the Saratoga includes full signature breakfasts and afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres in its room rate, plus every room is graced with its own adoptable teddy bear! “Green Gables Inn, our first property, was the childhood home of the real-life ‘four sisters’,” explains the family on www.saratogainnwhidbeyisland.com. “When the girls were still teenagers, they began welcoming summer guests to this inn, who seemed to enjoy seeing the girls’ stuffed animals on the beds. Over the years, as ... the girls grew into women, they decided the teddy bears were part of their legacy. Hence, you’ll always find adoptable teddy bears at the Four Sisters Inns!”

These are just a handful of the many, many B&Bs and country inns listed in the 18th edition of the Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns, and that are taking part in the Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free program. Savings at the inns mentioned below using the Buy-One-Night-Get-One-Night-Free range from $175 to $295 or more. Find out more at www.iloveinns.com.
