Caroline Wozniacki continued her push for her first career Grand Slam singles title, battling her way past Aleksandra Wozniak in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the second round at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Wozniacki allowed Wozniak to beat herself as the Canadian committed 51 unforced errors including nine double-faults. As for the Dane, she limited herself to just 25 unforced errors while breaking Wozniak’s serve five times.
Wozniacki is coming off finals appearance at last year’s U.S. Open where she fell to Kim Clijsters and before that she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon before falling to Sabine Lisicki. The Dane has also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open while her best finish at the French Open was a third round appearance in 2008 and 2009.
