2010 Australian Open Round 2 Results: Rafael Nadal Rolls Past Lukas Lacko in Straight Sets

Rafael Nadal took another step in defending his Australian Open title, easily dispatching Lukas Lacko in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the third round of the Grand Slam event.

Nadal allowed Lacko to take himself out of the match as the Slovakian committed 58 unforced errors in the match. In comparison, Nadal relied on his disciplined play as he limited himself to 30 unforced errors, many of those coming late in games he already controlled. Nadal broke Lacko’s serve on seven of ten opportunities while having hs own serve broken just once.

Nadal captured his first Australian Open title last year but then fell in the fourth round at the French Open to Robin Söderling, a Grand Slam event he had won the four previous years. Nadal then withdrew from Wimbledon due to a knee injury. In 2008 Nadal captured his first Wimbledon title leaving the U.S. Open as the only Grand Slam event the 23-year-old Spaniard hasn’t won.
