ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked readers in a recent survey, "Should Christians invest in a business franchise?" A sweeping majority feel that Christians should be able to invest in business franchises as long as their priorities reflect putting God first. Christians should be careful to make investments in the Kingdom of God and not for the purpose of acquiring monetary riches. Bill Cooper, President of ChristiaNet.com, stated, "When faced with a difficult decision never rush, always pray and seek God for the answer, and be as informed as possible." Out of 298 responses, 201 participants answered "yes" to the survey question. While running one's own business can be a rewarding vocation, Believers should realize that it can be extremely time consuming. One participant stated, "As long as it is a wholesome venture, and will not consume too much time so that you neglect your family and service to God." Many seem to agree that it is very important when becoming involved with business franchises to choose the right one. It should be a legitimate business that is operated with honesty and integrity.
Eleven readers said "no" to Christians owning business franchises. Several participants feel that investments in a franchise are a gamble. It seems to be the general consensus with this group that going into business for oneself is smarter than investing in a franchise. One suggestion that might prove valuable for Christians looking into business opportunities is to do some research into the company of choice especially concerning ethical business practices and financial information.
Eighty-six participants were unsure about the survey question. Many readers believe that it should be an individual decision based upon researching all the facts and seeking God for the answer. The most important investments a Christian can make are by doing so to further God's Kingdom. One participant gave some good advice by stating, "If it is something legal and genuine, they should do so to improve their lives and help build the Kingdom of God." The overall consensus with the majority of participants in this survey reveals that many Christians recognize the importance of giving God tithes and offerings and making decisions based upon Biblical principles.
