Author and Columnist John Longenecker answers the announcement of the Brady Center and the Center's urgings to battle liberty interests on the issue of armed students and college shootings.
Longenecker asserts that the personal choice to be armed anywhere and the soveriegn citizen authority to back it is legally superior to any unreasonable official insistence which forces students and visitors to come to campus unarmed. With regard to personal safety, that citizen authority is superior to forcing individuals to choose between felony consequences of being armed and funeral consequences of being unarmed. Of late, this is not an exaggeration.
"A non-profit claiming exemption under education in the public interest," says Longenecker, "Cannot continue long on that claim if it advocates against a civil right secured by law. Frustrating a civil right is not in the public interest."
