Caroline Wozniacki started her Australian Open off with a straight set win and followed that with a second round 6-3, 6-1 straight set victory over Julia Goerges to ease into the third round at the Grand Slam event in Mebourne
Wozniacki displayed discipline throughout the match, committing just 11 unforced errors on the day while capitalizing on the 36 miscues committed by Goerges. The Dane managed to win 69% of her first serves put in play and followed that with a remarkable 70% on second serves put in play.
Wozniacki is coming off finals appearance at last year’s U.S. Open where she fell to Kim Clijsters and before that she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon before falling to Sabine Lisicki. The Dane has also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open while her best finish at the French Open was a third round appearance in 2008 and 2009.
