Daniela Hantuchova needed just over an hour to breeze past Sofia Arvidsson in the second round of the Australian Open, dropping the Swede in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the third round in Melborne.
Hantuchova was never challenged as she hammered out 28 winners compared to just six for Arvidsson. The Slovakian managed to grab points on 86% of her first serves put in play and 77% of her second serves while never seeing her serve broke.
Hantuchova is yet to win a Grand Slam singles title but has had several impressive runs in each of the four events. She reached the semifinals at the Australian Open in 2008 while reaching the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open and Wimbledon in 2002. Her best finish at the French Open was a fourth round appearance in 2002 and 2006.
