Carlos Boozer scored 35 points and Grabbed 14 rebounds, Mehmet Okur added 16 points and 11 boards and Deron Williams finished with 20 points and 14 assists as the Utah Jazz went into Houston and knocked off the Rockets 103-99 to win their first round playoff series in seven games.
Tracy McGrady hit a nine-foot runner with 6:09 remaining in the game to give the Rockets an 88-83 lead but Utah scored the next eight points to move in front 91-88. Yao Ming tied the score for the Rockets on a three-point play but Okur answered with a three-pointer for the Jazz with just over three minutes remaining.
Houston stayed close and after Chuck Hayes scored on a layup they trailed by just one with 1:46 left. Okur missed a three-pointer on the Jazz’s ensuing possession but Boozer came up big with an offensive board and Okur drained a triple to push the lead to four.
McGrady got the Rockets to within two with 9 seconds left but Andrei Kirilenko sealed the game for the Jazz with a pair of free-throws.
Utah will now face the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
