Roger Clemens announced on Sunday that he will take the hill for the New York Yankees, providing relief for a depleted pitching staff that has the storied franchise fighting to stay out of the American League East cellar.
With his announcement the Clemens will carry his 348-178 career record back to a club he won two World Series rings with.
The seven time AL Cy Young award-winner signed a minor league contract and is expected to join the Yankees staff in a few weeks.
Clemens’ 4,604 career strikeouts trail only Nolan Ryan’s 5,714 on the career list.
