Two Washington Wizards players drew guns during a locker room altercation that stunned everyone. This incident however created curiosity in American Press for Poker as these two professional league of basketball or NBA players were trying to fix a debt involving a poker game. This high-pitch gun drama drew attention of the authorities and general public who eagerly wish to know the reason behind the argument and in turn more people are asking questions about poker. It may be noted that the game is not legalized in USA.

As per the report published by American sports channel NBC Sport, two Washington Wizards players Javaris Crittenton and Gilbert Arenas were involved in an argument over about a debt of $30,000 on a high stake poker game. If you compare the pay received by NBA players the amount however looks insignificant. It was Gilbert Arenas who first took out his revolver as per the New York Post report.

The incident took place in Verizon Center’s cloakrooms of Washington Wizards during December 2009 Christmas Eve. When the popular 27 year old Arenas took out his gun it was Crittenton’s turn. His anger was fuelled when Arenas refused to pay off a gambling debt. The background of the tussle goes back to Washington Wizard’s private plane.

Washington Wizards released a statement after the incident and stated that they would take the situation very seriously and would also conduct an investigation. Executive Director of NBA Players' Association Billy Hunter reacted strongly and described the incident to be “unprecedented in the history of sports.

The Gun laws are quite strict in the state and last Thursday Arenas was charged with a single count of felony for carrying a pistol without the license. This may cause five-year sentence. With Washington Wizards guard’s agreement however the punishment can be much less without jail time.
