According to sources from both company, Apple’s Tablet will be carried by both AT&T and Verizon.
Today marks six days from the supposed launch of the Tablet, and the carrier details have not been finalized. This means that Apple will most likely announce the product without the “who and how much” portion of the announcement.
Currently, Apple is in talks with both AT&T and Verizon to support the tablet: one version of the device will run on CDMA networks like Verizon’s, and one will operate on GSM networks like AT&T’s.
"Our 3G network covers 287 million Americans," said Verizon spokesman Jeff Nelson. "We didn't build a network and then cross our fingers that devices would work on it. When we built our network we built it with these devices in mind. AT&T didn't, and that's the difference."
AT&T spokesman responded to Nelson by saying, “No one would believe for one second that the Droid caused an iPhone-like spike in data usage. With the iPhone we saw a 7,000 percent increase in data usage over the last 13 quarters."
