Justine Henin is leaving all out on the court in her return to Grand Slam tennis as the Belgian once again found herself in a battle at the Australian Open, fighting back from a set down to get past Alisa Kleybanova 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 and advance to the fourth round.
Henin looked overwhelmed in the opening set as Kleybanova pounded out winners and it looked like the Russian had her on the ropes in the second as she had her down 3-1 but the former world’s number one battled back to take the set. A visibly tired Kleybanova had no defense against Henin in the third set. Kleybanova will look at missed opportunities as she had 13 break point chances but converted on just three of those while Henin converted five of seven break point opportunities.
Henin left competitive tennis in 2008 after winning seven Grand Slam singles titles. The 27-year-old Belgian won the Australian Open in 2004, the U.S. Open in 2004 and 2007, and the French Open in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007. She reached the finals at Wimbledon twice but fell to Venus Williams in 2001 and Amélie Mauresmo in 2006; both matches went three sets.
