Tayshaun Prince scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Richard Hamilton added 24 points, 9 boards and 6 assists and Chris Webber finished with 22 points and 7 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons cruised past the Chicago Bulls 108-87 to take a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference playoff series.
The Pistons set the tone early with an 8-0 run to start the game and by the end of the first quarter Detroit had built a 34-18 lead and never looked back. Back-to-back three-pointers from Chauncey Billups and a pair of free-throws from Richard Hamilton in the opening minutes of the second put Detroit up 42-18 and Chicago had no answers.
Ben Gordon hit a jumper to start the third to bring Chicago to within 13 but Chris Webber hit a 17-footer and Tayshaun Prince followed with a triple to boost the lead back to 18.
Tyrus Thomas scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to trim the Bulls deficit to 13 once again but an 8-3 spurt by Detroit once again put the lead at 18 with 7:33 left on the clock.
Detroit shot 52 percent from the floor, including a 10-19 performance from beyond the three-point line while Chicago managed to hit just 34 percent of their shots. The Pistons dominated the glass as well with a 51-30 advantage over the Bulls.
The series will now shift to Chicago where both teams will play on Thursday in game three of their best of seven series.
