Toyota Issues Recall For 2.3 Million Cars

Toyota has recalled 2.3 million vehicles after receiving consumer complaints about random acceleration. The company says gas pedal mechanisms may cause the pedal to stick in some cases, causing unintended acceleration.

Vehicles covered in the recall:

2009-2010 Toyota Rav4

2005-2010 Avalon

2008-2010 Camry

2010 Highlander

2007-2010 Tundra

2008-2010 Sequoia

Corolla

Matrix

“Our investigation indicates that there is a possibility that certain accelerator pedal mechanisms may, in rare instances, mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position,” said Toyota vice president Irv Miller.

The January 2010 recall comes months after Toyota recalled 4.2 million vehicles because gas pedals could get caught on floor mats.
