Georgia Mom Forces Son to Kill Pet Hamster with Hammer as Punishment for Bad Grades

A Georgia woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery after forcing her 12-year-old son to kill his pet hamster with a hammer as punishment for bad grades.

Police arrested Lynn Middlebrooks Geter, 38, on Thursday after her son told a teacher at his school about the incident. The teacher called the DFCS who then informed police in Meriwether County and the arrest was made that evening.

Meriwether County is approximately 90 minutes southwest of Atlanta.
