Drug Use In Prison Should Be Handled With Effective Drug Rehab
The prison system in America can be a touchy subject. Some people believe in it, and some people do not. One thing is clear – the prison system as we know it, does not handle drug abuse problems, in fact it can breed drug abuse with a large percentage of inmates incarcerated for drug-related crimes and often-times using while in prison.
Drugs like marijuana, cocaine and heroin filter through the prison walls so easily that prison officials have a hard time keeping up. In addition to the constant demand for drugs by inmates, some prison workers are getting into the drug game, smuggling in illegal drugs in exchange for payoffs. And even the smaller percentage of inmates that don’t go to prison addicted to drugs or alcohol, can leave with pretty heavy drug habits.
Due to the alarming numbers of prisoners using and becoming addicted to drugs, it is clear that drug and alcohol rehab is a better solution for offenders. Narconon Louisiana is a non-profit drug rehab that allows the individual to safely get off drugs and stay off drugs permanently. In an industry where the average success rate is between 12-20%, Narconon Louisiana far surpasses that with a stellar 76% success rate for permanent recovery.
While the prison system is falling apart, drug rehab is equipped to handle severe drug problems. In addition to being so successful in allowing people to live drug free lives, the Narconon program was originally developed in the Arizona State Prison, by William Benitez, an inmate of the facility.
Prior to the founding of Narconon, William Benitez had a heroin abuse problem for most of his adult life, going in and out of prison, always returning to the same destructive lifestyle. Benitez resumed prison life when he was sentenced yet again for drugs. While in the Arizona State Prison Library, Benitez stumbled upon a book by American Author and Humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard. Benitez picked up the book and started reading and at that moment the seed for an effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation program was planted.
After over fifty years of being one of the most successful, inpatient programs, Narconon has 150 centers in over 50 countries. Although Narconon Louisiana is one of the newest additions to the Narconon network, it is quickly making a name as one of the premier centers.
Jeff Lukas, Executive Director of Narconon Louisiana explains, “Whether our clients come in voluntarily, are sent here from jail, or even on a court order, we work to show them that they don’t have to participate in the revolving door of drugs and prison.”
Mr. Lukas goes on to say why the Narconon program is so successful. “Our program handles both the physical and mental aspects of addiction so that our graduates can go on to be productive, drug-free, crime-free, member of society.”
The Narconon Louisiana drug treatment program achieves more than a 76% success rate for permanent sobriety.
