Amare Stoudemire scored 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, Steve Nash added 20 points and 16 assist and Raja Bell finished with 18 points as the Phoenix Suns blew past the San Antonio Spurs 101-81 to even their Western Conference playoff series 1-1.
Phoenix trailed 25-19 heading into the second quarter but started the period on an 11-2 run and grabbed a 30-27 lead. They then used a 17-6 spurt to build their lead to ten and San Antonio never regained their composure.
The Spurs were able to close the gap to five on a Tony Parker layup late in the third quarter but Amare Stoudemire countered with his 15th point of the period to finish the scoring and Phoenix had a seven point edge heading into the fourth.
Phoenix then opened the final frame on a 13-4 run to bury any Spurs comeback hopes.
Tim Duncan led all scorers with 29 points for the Spurs while grabbing 11 rebounds in the loss.
The Suns shot 52 percent from the field and capitalized on the 20 turnovers committed by the Spurs by converting them into 23 points.
The series will now shift to San Antonio where the two teams will meet on Saturday for game three of their best of seven series.
