About the Human Rights Walkathon:
The Human Rights Walkathon is produced by the Human Rights Group, Inc., a private nonprofit corporation composed of volunteer staff. The purpose of the Human Rights Walkathon is to celebrate, promote and forward the rights that were set forth and proclaimed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948. Their goal is to help unite all people in agreeing to human rights and to make these rights a reality in the world today and believe that it is through education that war, discrimination and intolerance can be eliminated. More schools, human-rights groups and non-governmental organizations are represented at the Human Rights Walkathon every year.
