Jeff Ruby, owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville, Kentucky, remained true to his convictions and refused to serve NFL Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson at his restaurant on May 4.
After witnessing a patron appear “giddy” about the presence of Simpson, Ruby approached the table and informed Simpson that he would not serve him. Ruby then repeated that he would not be serving the table and walked away.
Ruby stated that the site of Simpson “makes me sick to my stomach.”
In 1995 Simpson was found innocent of charges that he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. He was late found liable in a civil trail and ordered to pay the victim’s families in excess of $33 million.
Rather than cause a scene at the restaurant, Ruby said Simpson displayed class for “the first time since 1994” and left quietly.
Diners at the restaurant applauded the owner after Simpson left.
