An Ethiopian Airlines passenger plane carrying 92 people has crashed into the Mediterranean Sea shortly after taking off from Beirut airport.
Authorities have ruled out terrorism, saying weather conditions were likely the cause as it had been raining heavily and lightning in Beirut. The flight had been bound for Addis Ababa but within five minutes the 737 disappeared from radar screens.
While search and rescue teams have been sent to the area in which the plane went down the chances of finding any survivors, is not considered likely.
