As an American playwright, August Wilson’s achievements were nothing short of extraordinary, but his personal story—an African-American high-school dropout who overcame tremendous obstacles to pursue his art—is particularly inspiring. He finished Radio Golf shortly before dying of liver cancer, thereby completing the monumental task he had set out for himself. April 20 marks the last time a new August Wilson play will premiere on Broadway. |
