Tayshaun Prince scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Rasheed Wallace added 16 points and 11 boards and Chauncey Billups finished with 21 points and 7 assists as the Detroit Pistons rallied in the second half to drop the Chicago Bulls 81-74 and take a 3-0 lead in their Eastern Conference playoff series.
Detroit looked awful in the first half and as bad as the played in the opening quarter they played worse in the second as the hit just four field goals in the period. Capitalizing on the Pistons poor shooting, the Bulls went into the locker room with a 16 point lead, 44-28.
Chicago quickly upped their lead to 19 early in the third quarter but the Pistons used a 15-2 run to cut the deficit to 55-50 and had the Bulls on the ropes. Detroit then closed the quarter on an 8-0 run and headed into the fourth quarter trailing 61-60.
Rasheed Wallace gave the Pistons their first lead since early in the first quarter with a jumper and after the two teams traded buckets Detroit grabbed the lead for good with a three-pointer from Chauncey Billups to make the score 69-66. Wallace followed with a triple and Billups added a jumper and Detroit was up seven with just over four minutes remaining in the game.
The Bulls were able to get within four but Detroit scored six straight from the foul-line to seal the game.
Chicago dominated the glass the entire game with a 60-43 advantage but they shot just 33 percent from the floor and hit 61 percent from the foul-line.
The two teams will play again in Chicago on Sunday in game four of their best of seven series.
