Australian Open Quarterfinals Results: Jie Zheng Advances to Semifinals with Easy Win Over Maria Kirilenko

Jie Zheng punched her ticket to the semifinals at the Australian Open, matching her deepest run at any Grand Slam event after taking care of Maria Kirilenko in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

Jie was never challenged in the match as she played a disciplined style that limited her to just nine unforced errors while Kirilenko totaled 22 on the day. Jie was also able to defend her serve as Kirilenko failed to earn a single break.

Jie reached the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2008, marking her best finish at a Grand Slam. She reached the third round at the U.S. Open in 2009 and 2008 while her best finish at the French Open was a fourth round appearance in 2004.
