ChristiaNet.com (http://www.christianet.com), the world's largest Christian portal with twelve million monthly page loads, asked readers to participate in a new survey by answering the question, "Should Christians participate in online Bible Studies?" An overwhelming majority agree that Believers should use any means available to expand their knowledge of God's word. One participant commented, "It is always good to know more of the Bible. Knowledge is a powerful tool, especially knowledge about the Word of God." (http://www.christianet.com/biblestudy/)
This survey revealed that out of 291 participants, 271 of those say "yes" to online Bible Studies. President Bill Cooper, of ChristiaNet.com, reveals His agreement by stating, "God's word provides Believers with spiritual food that helps growth take place and it also brings Christians to a closer relationship with the Creator." Descriptions from participants in favor of Internet study were: edification, encouragement, spiritual growth, fellowship, understanding, usefulness, beneficial, powerful, and Christ centered.
Two participants revealed their concerns with studying God's word on the Internet by voting "no." One Believer felt that group discussion with a teacher or interpreter is a better way to experience spiritual growth. It is good to recognize that there are many ways to participate in the study of Scripture. Each person should find the method or methods that work for them while providing edification and encouragement to continue in the faith. God has blessed His children with many avenues in today's world for growth including, Television, Radio, Internet, Church services, Bible Study groups, attending special Seminars or Conferences, and Individual Study through purchasing written materials.
Eighteen people were unsure about online Bible Studies. Those who commented in this group overall feel that anyone who is involved in this type of learning should be careful to measure it according to the Word of God. One cautious participant said, "Not sure because I'm not sure of the person who is doing the Bible Study and if they are doing it correctly or biblically." This is why an individual should know enough about Scripture that they can measure the teaching based upon that knowledge. Individual study in God's Word is necessary to be able to do this. Several in this group revealed the importance of trusting in the Holy Spirit for guidance and teaching. For more information, visit: http://www.christianet.com/articles/
