Spider-Man 3 brought in an addition $60 million at the ticket counter over the weekend to boost its total to $242 million after two weekends. The official box office numbers from last week showed that the web spinning crime fighter raked in $151 million in its three-day total, a number that represents a 60 percent drop in its second weekend performance.
Despite the drop at the ticket counter the third Spider-Man has now brought in a $622 million worldwide. That number could be slow to rise with the debut of “Shrek the Third” due out on Friday followed by the return of Johnny Depp in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” in two weeks.
The $60 million haul left little for the competition this weekend as the number two film, “28 Weeks Later” brought in just $10 million while the Lindsay Lohan new release “Georgia Rule” managed to bring in just $5.9 million over its debut weekend.
