Johnny Depp Calls Daughter’s Illness “Great Scare”

Johnny Depp has spoken publicly for the first time about the experience of witnessing his daughter, Lily-Rose, spend nine days in a London hospital this past February.

Depp told the Daily Mirror “It gave us a great scare, it was a very bumpy patch but she has come through it beautifully and unscathed and she is now as healthy as she always was. She is wonderful.”

While reports indicated that Depp’s seven-year-old daughter had become seriously ill from E.coli poisoning the two-time Oscar nominated actor would not confirm the cause of the sickness.

Depp, whose movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean; At World’s End’ will be opening in two weeks, credited his daughter’s strength and resolve for pulling him and his partner of eight years, Vanessa Paradis, through the difficult time saying “What got us through this wasn't the strength of Vanessa or me but our daughter and her incredible ability to make us feel OK even though she was very unwell. She was super-strong.”

Lily Rose is the oldest daughter of Depp and Paradis. The couple has a four-year-old son, Jack, as well.
