Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE:BKR) has announced that it’s engineering unit Michael Baker Jr., Inc., has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic. The contract, valued at $75 million, is for the provision of architectural and engineering services for Multimedia Environmental Compliance Engineering Support to the Navy and other Department of Defense entities. Baker will now provide the NAVFAC with environmental compliance services in the areas of petroleum storage tanks, oil spill preparedness and planning, waste management, environmental condition of property programs, sustainability services, Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and Clean Water Act, wastewater plans and studies, Laboratory services, pesticide management and radon.

The Energy segment provides a range of services to operating energy production facilities worldwide. Contracts with various branches of the United States government accounted for 34% of its total contract revenues for the year ended December 31, 2008. The Company’s contracts with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) accounted for approximately 13% of its revenues in 2008. In October 2009, the Company completed the sale of its energy business segment (Baker Energy) to a subsidiary of John Wood Group PLC.
