Critics have fiercely opposed the Obama administration’s plan to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four of his alleged co-conspirators just blocks form where the twin towers once stood because of worries regarding a large security cordon and the potential impact on businesses in the area.
Holder, the individual who picked New York City for the upcoming November trials, is now considering alternative venues.
"Conversations have occurred with the administration to discuss contingency options should the possibility of a trial in lower Manhattan be foreclosed upon by Congress or locally," an administration official said.
It is still unclear regarding what other venues would be considered.
