In the continuing attempt to persuade charitable giving entities, a chance to really understand what ONEGIFT4POWER owns and needs a very limited amount of contributions to propagate, we are briefly presenting the BASICS of PHYSICS, in 2000 words or less, in such a way that any entity can understand, no matter who he or she is. Simple scientific facts, presented as simply as can be!
Why are we doing this? Why educate normal people? Simply because there are to many cynics, who fool everyone into believing they are the experts and these will not contribute, they never contribute to anything, they just knock everything, BUT the normal among us do want to help, when they understand! Not everyone thinks science is so right in everything it thinks and does!
There are some who don’t believe us! Some who don’t want to believe us, and, some who believe us, but want reassuring we own what we claim we own and can accomplish what we say we can accomplish!
We need the latter to join us!
In order to truly understand who we are and what we own, we present the brief PHYSICS and HISTORICAL SCIENCE facts for all to read. In this manner, those who want to help, will know for a fact, that ONEGIFT4POWER truly owns what no other entity in the World owns, there is a history of the facts behind what we own, and they then will want part of this historic, unique, charitable organization.

The Third of our Series: 2500 words. POWER is the easiest term to understand by the layman. SCIENCE THINKS THEY KNOW IT, BUT IN REALITY, PHYSICISTS USE IT VERY LITTLE. Engineers, however, use it quite a bit.
POWER:
This is so simple, it ONLY has one definition/explanation:
“the Rate WORK is ACCOMPLISHED!”
That said, however, SCIENCE made it difficult!
POWER, was discovered in 1780, by a certain James Watt. He conducted an experiment with a dray horse, a weight, and a scale. The idea was to see how long it would take the horse to lift water from a well!
Ergo, the HORSEPOWER, the unit of measure of POWER, was born.
Why was this so important?
Well for one thing, in 1765, James Watt, a Scottish engineer, invented his version of the Steam Engine which was better than the Newsome engine of 1712, in efficiency.
AND, he Patented this steam engine in 1769!
NOW, the important part.
WHY DIDN’T HE CALL HIS STEAM ENGINE an ENERGY DEVICE, or that ENERGY WAS NEEDED TO MAKE STEAM?
IN FACT, he DIED IN 1819, and KINETIC ENERGY WASN’T EVEN DISCOVERED FOR MORE THAN 38 YEARS AFTER HE DIED, SO HE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW ABOUT ENERGY of MOTION.
His MAIN CONCERN, was that POWER was what he felt MADE his invention operate as good as it did. NOT ENERGY! He never knew about energy, until it was discovered.
The same today. Auto’s are rated in HORSEPOWER. Trucks the same. Boat engines, the same. HYDRO-PROJECTS the same.
MOST ALL POWER PLANTS, ENGINES and/or MACHINES, THAT PERFORM or ACCOMPLISH WORK, are rated in POWER, HORSEPOWER, and James Watt discovered POWER in 1780, 11 years after he Patented his Steam Engine.
James Watt is the FATHER of POWER! He had NO THOUGHTS about ENERGY. HE DEDUCED THAT POWER ACCOMPLISHED THE WORK!
And, HE WAS AN ENGINEER!
NOT a PHYSICIST!
Does this make a difference?
YES, BECAUSE PHYSICS IS MOSTLY THEORY.
Engineering ISN’T. It is fact, using absolute mathematics, ergo PHYSICISTS tried to put two and two together, but they got five!
POWER is what makes all WORK, work!
HORSEPOWER is the arte ALL POWER WORKS at!
When we explain ENERGY, tomorrow, we will continue the dialogue between the two of these, POWER and ENERGY, and why we feel PHYSICS SCREWED UP, in their belief and now their teachings that ENERGY is MORE IMPORTANT than POWER!

YOU WILL FIND NO MENTION OF POWER!
In fact, in our own Dr. Richard Olenicks Nationally famous College Course, including textbook, called the “Mechanical Universe”, POWER is mentioned ONCE, in the INDEX, for CONVERSION PURPOSES ONLY.
On page 248, it states: Joule = 10,000 ergs = .738 ft. lbs, which is a unit of HORSEPOWER!
And, in Dr. Isaac Asimovs 1968 book, “Understanding Physics”, and it must be noted that this comes before the explanation of ENERGY, in the Work and Energy Chapter, after his explanation of “Levers” and such, and “Multiplication of Forces”, (gain in POWER, as Dante accomplishes,) BEFORE EXPLAINING ENERGY, so there must be something in what Dante thinks is VERY IMPORTANT, POWER rates HIGHER THAN ENERGY! He states, on page 93:
“The definition of work as the product of a force and the distance through which it acts, says nothing about the time it takes to act. Men usually find it preferable to accomplish a particular amount of work in a shorter time rather than a long time and are therefore interest in the rate at which work is done. This rate is spoken of as POWER.”
Now, comes the most controversial of all the controversial statement5s:
“The units of power are the joules/sec in the mks system and ergs/sec in the cgs system”
Why is this so controversial, simply because ENERGY, KINETIC ENERGY is ALSO RATED IN ERGS, AND JOULES, but AS WE READ ABOVE, 1 JOULE = 10,000 ERGS = .738 FOOT-POUNDS, and FOOT-POUNDS is what the HORSEPOWER FORMULA USES. PERIOD!
So, one can see, that SOMEWHERE IN HISTORY, PHYSICISTS SCREWED UP TERMS, WORK - ENERGY - POWER, but the history books recorded that WORK CAME FIRST, THEN POWER and tomorrow you will learn ENERGY WAS LEAST. PERIOD!
It continues:
“A very common unit of power which fits into neither system”, (now we can see how messed up these terms are, and NOW we have another unit of measure,) “was originated by the Scottish engineer James Watt ( 1736 – 1819). He had improved the steam engine and made it practical toward the end of the eighteenth century, and he was anxious to know how its rate of work in pumping water out of coal mines compared with the rate of work of the horses previously used to operate the pumps. In order to define HORSEPOWER he tested horses to see how much weight they could lift through what distance and in what time. He concluded that a strong horse could lift 150 pounds through a height of 220 feet in one minute, so one horsepower was equal to 150 x 200/1, or 33,000 foot-pounds/minute.”
“This inconvenient unit is equal to 745.2 Joules, or 7,452, 000,000 ergs, per sec. A joule is defined as a WATT in James Watt’s honor, and so we can also say that one horsepower is equal to 745.2 watts.”
WHY IS IT CONSIDERED INCONVENIENT. It seems that ALL THE CONFUSION is inconvenient.
Dante ACCOMPLISHES WHAT HE CLAIMS, BECAUSE HE FOUND THE KEYS TO UNRAVELING THIS CONFUSION, and it IS MORE CONVENIENT THAN ALL ELSE.
“ENERPOWER”. PERIOD! (This is explained in the New Science series, which will be run once again to refreshen those who need to knows minds.)
NOW, THE KICKER!
“The watt, however, is most commonly used in electrical measurements.
In Mechanical Engineering (at least in Great Britain and the United States) it is still horsepower all the way. The power of our automobile engines, for instance, is routinely given in horsepower.”
THEN, IT GOES INTO MECHANICAL ENERGY!
BUT, notice how messed up the ENERGY - POWER SITUATION has gotten.
Horsepower, watts, joules, ergs, ALL ARE or WERE USED FOR POWER UNITS OF MEASURE, AND SO WERE THEY ALL USED FOR ENERGY UNITS OF MEASURE, and of course, THE SAME ARE USED FOR WORK, UNITS OF MEASURE.
WORK – POWER and ENERGY all having the SAME UNITS OF MEASURE, plus POWER HAVING ONE MORE,…HORSEPOWER, SURE COMPLICATES SCIENCE, as that is exactly what some scientists want, confusion because THEY DO NOT KNOW THE TRUE ANSWERS!
What is to be believed?
Who is one to believe?
What physics professor teaches all this controversy?
What University teaches all this to their students?
Who then is an expert?
The FACT is. NO ONE!
Now, that said, Dante has met engineers who STRONGLY BELIEVE that POWER and ENERGY are SO DISTANTLY RELATED, (they believed that these two terms were so far apart, in meaning, use and results,) that ONE CANNOT EVEN USE THESE TWO IN THE SAME SENTENCE, they told Dante, before Dante became smarter than they!
Dante, however, discovered this thinking is wrong. Period!
He discovered, in Webster’s Dictionary, that ENERGY is a synonym of POWER and POWER is a synonym of ENERGY.
In Cole’s Thesaurus, Dante found the ENERGY can be found UNDER POWER, and POWER can be found UNDER ENERGY!
Ergo, the conclusion,
POWER is an ABSOLUTE TERM, CONCEPT and/or UNIT TO MEASURE REAL WORK.
POWER CAN BE MEASURED BY SIMPLE, ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS’. Physics math, which is “silly putty” in nature, as it can prove anything a physicist wants proved, counts for squat!
The FORMULA FOR HORSEPOWER IS:
HP = MASS (weight of matter, in pounds) times DISTANCE ( in feet, the given matter moves) = FOOT-POUNDS. This foot-pounds resultant has to be divided by 550 times the SECONDS the matter moves through the distance, and the RESULTS of this simple mathematics, is HORSEPOWER!
But, as you will see tomorrow, the ONLY FORMULA FOR ENERGY, KINETIC ENERGY, the energy of motion, IS AS SIMPLE, BUT CLOSELY RELATED!
THIS BRIEF EXPLANATION ISN’T MEANT TO TOTALLY EXPLAIN EVERYTHING. 2000WORDS WILL NOT EVEN SCRATCH THE SURFACE! But, it is enough to educated those who want to know the truth, for them to at least, understand what Dante claims, and then join ONEGIFT4POWER as a contributor and friend!
