Aussie Millions Main Event presents many unexpected winners

The day 4 of the Aussie Millions Main Event Poker Championship 2010 was a stunner of events from beginning till end.

The day 4 of the Aussie Millions Main Event Poker Championship 2010 was a stunner of events from beginning till end. It began with top notch 18 players and the list included Dan Shak, the winner of $100,000 Challenge and local favorites like Topakas and Joel Dodds. But at the end of the day 8 remained and it was Sorel Mizzi who came out as the leader. He concluded the day with a lead of 3-1 over his closest opponent. It was a great day for him as he would say as he got some great hands during the matches.

Annette Obrestad, the first woman player to reach the Aussie Millions Main Event final would now be Joining Sorel in the final table. She is his Betfair teammate and the first woman. Last year, however, she managed the 21st position in this tournament and this year she won one preliminary events in this series. So, it can be safely said that Mizzi now has hardly any competition.

On January 27, during the second day of the tournament came with surprises when David Frieling defeated Pierre Aoukar when Aoukar was in the position of the chip leader.

Day 3 also came with its share of twist and turns. Some great players like Howard Lederer was eliminated at day 3. That day in the Melbourne Poker of Crown Casino 294 players were participating and quite a few famous players had to leave the tournament prematurely. Some of them were Tony G, Erick Lindgren, daN Harrington,Joe Hachem, Mark Your,James Akenhead, and Leo Margets. Only 83 players were left at the end of the second day. But Dane Gus Gansen utilized the opportunity and managed over 500,000 tokens.

So for the fourth day around 50 players were left and without players like Barry Greenstein or Van Marcus the list looked quite pale. Dan Shak, Stephe Shelley, and Sorel Mizzi were among those who crossed million tokens. And, now we know we have a new champion among us.
