Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has announced plans for his country to sell small-arms to Libya in a deal estimated to be worth $1.8 billion. The PM confirmed the deal on Saturday telling reporters “Yesterday a contract worth 1.3bn euros was signed.”
Libyan defense minister Abu Bakr Yunis Jaber has been in Moscow for several days as the deal was being crafted.
While the deal is said to involve small-arms Russian media outlets have said the agreement might also include fighter planes.
